I set some traps last weekend and Tuesday before the hard freeze I stepped on all my traps and just let them close and stay mostly under ground. Went back and reset and moved some around yesterday and 2 of my traps where pulled out of the holes and chains where stretched tight. Couldn't see any tracks but made me wonder how much attention they got. Im sure the dirt holes helped draw them in but neither hole was messed with. How many set with bones or something to get there attention? Ive only done flat and dirthole sets but this got my wheels to spinning.

I have a few locations that are more open where I will use some old cow bones to catch their attention, but I can’t really say if it has helped my numbers or not. It seems like I’ve caught just as many with a visual attractant as I have just using a dirt hole.

Sounds like a deer stepped in them.

I tripped them myself Tuesday. So something actually grabbed them and tried to take them away with its mouth.

Kind of odd! I don't know what would've done that.

I will say this, I catch more coyotes in suttle well hidden sets than I do in sets with visual attraction. Flashy sets seem to make coyotes more cautious. Just the opposite with cats and fox, it seems to peak their curiosity.

My guess is a coon messing with it.

No telling what it was. The two that was messed with was a long ways apart. Like opposite ends of 1800 acres. I may try something like a short piece of metal just to see what happens. No luck so far besides a couple coons and 1 missed coyote didn't step in rite spot so far.

Missed that part. Put a camera on it maybe?
