I tend to snuggle right up in bed with em, no matter the time of year. As close as I can get to wherever I think the bucks bed...on the edge of the cutover, short pines, etc.
Otherwise, water oaks, water oaks, water oaks. And if you've got secluded water oaks next to the short pines!!!....
Done got me to reminiscing about this spot on a lease we had near West Point Lake several years ago... dim road circled a big cutover on the far end of our property. Where the roadbed petered out, it actually turned up into a draw in that cutover, and there was a GIANT water oak left standing and it had privet scattered all around (there were two smaller water oaks too about 20 yards to the side). We ran the bushhog up to that big tree and hung a loc-on in it. Really wasn't worth gun hunting because you couldn't see very far, but in January those water oaks still had good acorns usually. You could literally smell it like a goat pen when you walked up there, would be clods of poop everywhere under that big tree. Had some fine times in that spot! That tree actually got hit by lightning and started dying.

We were on the edge of Eternia, when the power of Greyskull began to take hold.

The way I see people talking in the forums. No bucks can be killed after the rut? I know this isn't the case, so what are your favorite post-rut hunting tactics I think where most of your hunting is done you won't have to worry about it because its wrapping up when season wraps up.

The rut is over in my neck of the woods, and there was a 17 inch wide 8 point and a 16.5 inch wide 10 point killed at the club this past weekend on food plots.
