TOILET PAPER. Multiple uses obviously, but sure makes marking a blood trail easier.

I’m a safety nut so I always have one in all my vehicles plus my hunting pack. Plus when using a knife to gut a deer anything can happen. A few years ago we had a member on here dad died from a knife wound while processing a deer.
I’ve said it before on here and I’ll say it again. I pack for a hunt like I did in the Army. Prepare for any situation and pray nothing bad happens.

Nobody carries a first aid kit? I carry a tourniquet, IFAK and combat gauze along with all my other junk. No, just curious, what for? We have one at the house What good is it at the house when it’s needed now? I also carry a whistle. House is close, and I never hunt alone. Just asking what situation needs a first aid kid. Been hunting a long time and never needed one, so curious if I needed to add to bag There is so much that can happen to you or your hunting buddy while hunting it's a good idea to carry one

I also have a flint fire starter and some toilet paper rolls stuffed with dryer lint in my pack.

For emergencies (in addition to first aid kit and quick-clot), I carry a SPOT satellite gps tracker and messenger. Gives the family peace of mind and gives me a way to call 911 if I don't have a phone signal. One of my colleagues at work hiked the AT and said it was invaluable for checking in and tracking for his family.
