I’m really wanting to add a ceramic, aluminum or copper call to the vest this year. What are your suggestions for the best and why? Thanks in advance.

I like a glass/crystal for volume, slate for close up. Never heard an aluminum I liked. Guys at the office gave me copper for Christmas. It sounds great and looks good as well. If Stateline sees this he can tell you where it came from.

The best aluminum would probably be a Dawkins. One of his is on my short list.
The two I'm currently going to run are a Hanks paduak aluminum and Mark Cunningham's (footballer on OG) white oak with blasted aluminum. Mark is fairly new to call making, but he is turning out some awesome calls.

Halloran Crystal Mistress is the best sounding pot call I've heard.

Dawkins aluminum pot call, aluminum hits high frequency, he uses plastic which stands up better than wood, easier to play when wet, and the turkeys just love it, particularly western birds.

I agree. I use one and it is damn deadly. Only cost $50 too plus its waterproof.

I have this call and it sounds great but I'll have to say I haven't used in the woods yet so how effective it is on birds I do not know. I'll find out in a few weeks

I like a good glass call. But the best call is which one you can run the best, and the softest. $200 dollar diamond over Ruby call with yeti bone striker don't mean crap if you can't work it. But those copper calls sure are purty.

So, just how soft can you get with that diamond and yeti bone?

I know I bought a Cody and a Field Proven glass with diamond wood striker I really liked. Seems like I may have bought a Halloran Sugartown Sweetness also

I think it was the Field Proven glass in zebrawood with dymondwood striker that you are remembering. I really liked that one and was able to get some nice purrs out of it. They tried to sell me one in the package and I insisted on the displays I was using.

My go to for the last couple of years have been a Stony Brock pot and a Old Crow Custom pot

Many good ones mentioned so far, my favorite one is a anodized aluminum over copper made by Matt VanCise it is a doall call.

Me too. I can’t run a pot call worth a flip but I’ve stilled a few turkeys with that little copper call
