I have killed 4 or 5 doe's in the last 9 years here in MO.
It takes a long time to grow an old friend.

I have only killed 4 this year. I spend less than an hour getting in the stand shooting the doe getting down field dressing her and loading her. I think I could skip the part about getting in the stand and same 15 mins. I'm not sure this is really hunting. Kill them all.... You killed them in about 4 days seems like I had some time off before Thanksgiving so I shoot does and plant green fields. I sat a green field Saturday and saw 16 and my buddy sat across the road Sunday and saw 29. Good googly moogly, you must hunt in a part of the state with alot of dang deer....where is that exactly?

This time of year, this year especially, a mature doe is the hardest deer in the woods to kill. They've had the whole season to pattern us and are not rut crazy like the bucks. I'm seeing 5 bucks right now for every doe. I'll shoot another doe or so before the end of the season for some meat and a whopper buck if I see him to donate to the needy. I have no interest in eating a rutting buck when I can get a doe instead.
Where I hunt, the does in particular haven't been moving as much as normal. I don't know if it is the weather, banner mast crop (I watched some still eating acorns the other day), or both, but the sightings have not been prevalent. Now if I were a number of other hunters, I would scream that we killed too many does and they are not there anymore. I've hunted this property for too many years though to believe that. I know if I want to see a doe right now, I need to get off the plots. The bucks are roaming so I'm seeing plenty of them, but in about a week they will be locked up with the does so I'll have to find the does to find the bucks.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

If you’re in Unit C, there’s not a shucks ton of opportunites to shoot does with a gun. We had a week of either sex hunting at Thanksgiving and week between Christmas and New Years. Add in a little bad weather, some work and it dwindles fast. I’m not really complaining though. I hadn’t much been in the mood to shoot a doe this year. You do need to kill a deer now and again though to consider yourself a deer hunter.

“Killing tomorrow’s trophies today.”
On the distance I like to walk to my stands: “The first 100 yards is also the last 100 yards.”

I hunt hard for does. Not to shoot them though. Eventually they bring th big boys out of their hole.

I only have one rule for shooting does.
Retrevial must be possible with an ATV or truck.
There’s too many of them to have to drag one.
Several places I hunt, I’d bet my paycheck that I could kill a doe on any given day.
You're only as good as your worst shot-

Not hard at all, they're everywhere. You could shoot them blindfolded where I hunt.
Cooking wild game is my specialty 👌
