Looking for some recommendations on a pheasant hunting guide service within a 10 to 12 hour drive from Alabama. Me and some buddies are wanting to plan a trip for the 2019 - 2020 season. The Dakota’s are too far away for a long weekend trip and I ain’t flying. Thanks!

We go up to Ohio. It's 10 hours, guys on the arsenal will order a bunch and set them out themselves.

There used to be some decent pheasant hunting in western IA, but it's been 20+ since I've gone to IA, so not sure what's going on there. Kansas might have some, not sure about that.

I'd drive the extra six hours and go to SD. Wild birds, plenty of public ground and great country.

I used the sight above a lot when stationed at FT Riley. Lots of walk in hunting in KS. Get a map of the walk in hunting areas.

If you do go with Rader lodge we hunted with Leon every time and he was good. It's been a few years but I'd imagine he is still there. Their wild bird numbers fluctuate from year to year. Even their release birds fly good though.

If you're driving as far as Kansas , just go ahead and go to Tripp or Gregory county SD. That area is the pheasant hunting capital of the world, they've got them .

No doubt need to make this trip once, but we started going to KS to cut down on travel time. We haven't been back to SD since.

Kansas numbers are way down this year. Just got back from there with my son. Now the guides are turning loose birds to keep hunters happy. My dad lives there during the whole bird season and says the numbers are down all around him. The lack of grass has hurt a lot also. The state has stopped paying for crp grass, so a lot is being put back into crops.

I’m sure many of y’all know but pheasants are almost non existent in much of Kansas. Especially southern kansas. Your hunting birds from a flight pen almost everywhere now if your with an outfitter

I went a couple years ago and it was 22 hours one way to the part we went to. If I was already going to drive 10 hours,I would just go another 10 and go to SD for a real hunt.

We drove the 22 hours back without sleeping over but if I did it today, I would make it 2 days each way and enjoy myself.

We turkey hunted in Nebraska last year and there were Pheasants and Quail everywhere. They must have had a banner hatch.

You can be in Nebraska in about 15 hours.
