 Just a play on words on the thread title. I'm not a big buck killa like ol' Timber is. It's a rare thing for me to get one.  The good Lord blessed me real well today!  I let this buck get by me at 8:20 a.m. He crossed the gas line I was hunting walking behind a doe and I let him get all the way across trying to count his points. I got so upset with myself because we don't have an 8 point rule anymore and I had failed to remember that in my excitement of seeing him. He got into the woods on the other side without me ever firing a shot. Three hours later, at 11:20 a.m. the doe walked back across the gas line. I was ready for him this time. He was 30 yards behind her at a slow walk. When he stepped out behind her this time around I already had him in the scope. He turned sharply quartered to me and I shot him at 378 yards. I still didn't know how many points he had until I found him. We now have a 14" inside spread or an 18" main beam on one side rule. I knew that he was a club legal buck, no matter the number of points that he had. I say the Lord "blessed me" because it's not often you get a 2nd chance at the same buck on the same day, 3 hours later. I am so thankful that I had the chance to kill this nice buck. Congrats. A long shot. What did you shoot him with? Remington 700 Sendero SF II in .300 RUM. I've got it set up on a 300 yard zero.
