screw home depot they only have 4 self checkout lanes with one person working them and you know about how smart the average person is in a self checkout. lowes doesn't have that crap a real person checks you out.

The Lowes down here have those self check outs too.

Yes. Lowes in Guntersville has Craftsman in the store now.

Lowe's ain't doing something right. They closing 51 stores nation wide. The one in Graysville has a big sign on front letting the public know.

Closings

Lowe's is 16 miles and Home Depot is 45, so Lowe's.

Ace hardware all the way. Went to my local one is saraland to buy some Cross ties yesterday. They thanked me for my business, gave me a pack of Conecuh sausage, and said Merry Christmas.

Can't beat that anywhere!

Like others have said, it really depends on which particular one. The Lowes in Ft. Payne is fantastic. The people there are always helpful. I think a lot of it is demographics and the caliber of employee that is hired at the store.

I have found stuff online at Home Depot that I could not find at Lowes. Home Depot has lots of stuff available online that they don't even carry in the store. And some good deals too. You order it, and then they call you when it gets to the store and you go pick it up.

Home Depot because it's 5 minutes down the road. I would prefer a locally owned hardware store, but there aren't any that I'm aware of near me. The Home Depot in Pell City is hit or miss. Some days, I've had 3 or 4 employees helping load stuff. Other days, I couldn't find an employee other than the cashiers.

If I need just a couple of things I go to the locally owned hardware store. For big projects I go to home depot. Lowes seems like they cater more to city/yuppy crowd and home depot more to contractors.

Always preferred Lowe’s...several years back HD was all about promoting the LGBT (I hear there’s more now) agenda. Just sell me a frickin 2x4, I don’t need to hear your political views!!

And the best thing is they don't have everything on computer. They write out the orders by hand, and charge whatever I buy until the end of the month unless I tell them I want to pay now. And they usually beat the price at HD across the highway. It's a pretty easy choice to buy from them. There would be a lot of these type stores for everything if people would support them.

Where is this at in Sylacauga? When at the lake I always go to Home Depot but they suck and I would rather suport a local business.

If Ross Graden lumber Co or Weathers hardware is open, that’s where I go. If they’re closed, I go to Lowe’s.

lowes is more homeowner oriented while home depot is a touch more buisness.

My best friend works at lowes, he has worked there for close to 15yrs, I guess. Sometimes knowing somebody makes alot of difference.

The lumber I buy at lowes is always straighter and better than what I find at home depot for some reason.

Across the road from HD and a few hundred yards north.
