I agree. But most folks aren't going to go to court because of having to miss work and all the added cost, when it's much easier to pay the fine.

Once again, how do you carry a warning to court?

Yeah i wasn't really referring to the warning ticket, kinda typing out loud lol, there's a lot of responses telling people to take it to court, but that can be especially hard for someone when they may possibly hunt 2 or even 3 counties away from home, so they end up just paying, even when they may have possibly been wronged...

From what I've seen, 100% are found guilty in court. If appealled, 100% of the cases have been dropped. Just what I've seen.

Yea, I know that. No court date. No fine. But with the carry it to court made me wonder if I had missed something. What I have seen, especially with GWs, it is used as a tool to drive home a teaching point when they feel education is best.

Knock on wood, but I've only received one warning ticket (20 years ago) from a GW, and it was for not having a hunting license, hell i haven't even taken the safety course yet. But he did write me a ticket for the 100 pounds of corn and apple blocks i had on the edge of the field though grin

Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many!

I've been checked by some super nice GW and some real assholes on WMA and private land. Best thing is just to be respectful and gracious. Everybody they approach likely has a weapon on their person or close by. I don't know the GW for St. Clair county, but I would be happy to give them a key to my gate.

While guns and drinking may not be illegal, it's a really stupid idea. I'll be one of the first ones to pop a cold one when we get back to camp, but I have no desire to be in the woods with somebody drinking and holding a high power rifle.

It may not be illegal to have a loaded long gun in your vehicle, but it is dangerous. I have known 3 different times that somebody shot a hole thru their floorboard or right side door of their truck while getting their loaded rifle out, two of them swore the gun was unloaded.

...or a shotgun. But good luck telling folks this. They'll tell you "I've never had a problem".

How do you take a warning to court?

I once had a new officer call me to the scene of his traffic stop because a woman refused to sign a Written Warning for a traffic violation. She was adamant she wouldn't sign it. After I explained to her that the warning has no repercussions and won't go on her record but if she wanted to fight it, I would be happy to direct the officer to write a citation that will go on her record if she was found guilty by a judge if she chose to contest it. I further explained the consequences of not signing the citation and that it was not an admission of guilt by just an assurance that she would either take care of the ticket or be in court on the specified date. She decided to take the warning.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

other than Bham grinyou can lay a fully loaded rifle on the dash and drive thru Montgomery legally. You can drive all over yer land with it there. You can drive around the club likewise. GW tells you it is illegal TELL HIM TO SHOW YOU THE LAW/REG. It doesn't exist.

3. It is illegal to hunt with the aid of a motor vehicle. It used to be enforced all around, no sitting on/in while hunting. That changed around 1985-1990, allowing you to park on the gas line, engine running while hunting. (kind of like the "salt is legal" enforcement. If you are driving around a big pasture looking for deer, stopping and glassing, sticking gun out the window to look, you could be arrested for hunting from a motor vehicle.

Shooting from a public road from the vehicle could get you a public road ticket, motor vehicle ticket, permit ticket (if on someone else land with no permission).

Number 3 is not correct - as long as the vehicle's motor is shut off you can hunt from it. Per Alabama regulation 220-2-.02 - Persons may hunt from a floating craft or motor vehicle once the motor is shut off and all forward motion has ceased. It is not legal to hunt from a vehicle on a public road.

I’ve only really had dealings with one GW, while hunting, and that was in Shelby Co. He’s a good guy and a member on here too. Very respectful and helpful. I also have had only one dealing with an Admin of the DCNR, or at least whoever answers their email/FB questions, and he/she was a pure prick. I sent a simple message asking for clarification on a law. I even said I just wanted to make sure I was legal. They answered my question straight forward. Then followed up with a smart a$$ comment, saying (paraphrasing) If I didn’t like the way the law was written I should attend CAB meetings and voice my complaint there. I replied back and told them I didn’t know where that comment came from or why they felt the need to say it. Told them I didn’t disagree with the law, again, just wanted to make sure I was legal. In my opinion, and its just that, an opinion, THAT is where the disconnect comes from between hunters and the DCNR. Hunters need to remember not every GW is an a$$, but GW’s need to remember that not every hunter is an outlaw.

Let me be the first to say, if you go open my cooler looking for something and find beer, we are both grabbing at least one and drinking it.

I don't care if you are on the clock.

To be an Aldeer Outlaw, does one simply have to break 1 law....just 1 time? Or is there a minimum number of laws broken, or a frequency, that is required to be labeled an Aldeer Outlaw? Does that label include a special window decal besides the regular sticker?

There are 3 certainties in an uncertain world:

2. All Gun Laws Are an Infringement
3. Taxation Is Theft

It’s already in the aldeer court. The problem I see is no presence of deer or intent of hunting from truck. If I’m at home drinking with a loaded mag and one not chambered in the other room and the window is open and a deer comes up and it’s dark and corn is on the stove, I guess they will put me under the jail.

I don't know the criteria but 50% is half this site no matter how you look at it.
