The docks I’ve built I use telephone poles and a pile driver. There is no easy way to do it you are working on water which makes it even harder.

I try to talk to people and tell them we should, but most don’t want to spend the extra coin. I get that, piers aren’t cheap. Especially when you start getting into deeper water and having to use 30’ telephone poles. All the post I use are ground and water treated of course. The “salt water” treatment from Alfa lumber in Birmingham is what I try to get people to go with. It’s no 1 stuff that has been double treated pretty much. Probably the same as “ground and water” treatment. It’s good looking pine, which can be tough to come by now days. Feels like it’s full of lead though!

This was explained already.
Go ahead and try it. Hope you’re practically on the coast.

Hell we hand drove about 150 4x4s with OL' big Bertha (won't do that again lol) Tell ya what though, the guy two camps up from us used one of those jet pump thingy majiggers, and the front of his dock has already settled a half of foot, and ours still looks way better than his...

Well, it will cost you more up front but in the long run you will save yourself a lot of money and especially time.

Reframe and go with COMPOSITE DECKING. I did it 5 years ago and have watched my neighbors restain twice and are always replacing rotted boards. I have not done anything but rinse mine off on occasion.

Haha! Just in time...like always. Looks awesome James. Like I said earlier. It’s not impossible, just real close to it.

If your bands and joist are in good shape, I’d go with trex!! Just FYI. Think they’re making one now that doesn’t get as hot. That’s the only issue w trex that I know of. Your joist need to be on 16” centers btw.

I had a 88 foot pier built this summer, water was about 4' deep, round post driven in the ground 8' wide with railing, I think it was about $23,000.
