Must've been handing degrees out of fruit loop boxes.

He'll be gone and the bammers should wish him well instead of any animosity. He stuck around to get his degree when most other kids would have packed it in or left. then he hung around and showed character in bailing the team out when Tua got hurt. Hell, I gave him a standing ovation. Now though, unless he realistically can win the starting job back he truly has no reason to stay. It's best for him to go somewhere that better suit his skill set.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Congratulations to the young men and women. RTR

Did Auburn not graduate any players or did Gus forget to tell his assistants to make sure they went to class?

After going to college, I now have a rather cynical view of sports/degrees.
Had an Oral communications class with a Football player. When he gave
one of his speeches he talked about how he got admitted. Said they(the school)
had to combine 2 of his scores on the entrance exam to get him in.
Also, had a Genetics class where 3 Football players were in class on the first day
and then never showed up again all semester. I thought they had dropped the class.
But guess who shows up to take the final exam?

You're wrong Jawbone. Jalen hung around and became a better quarterback instead of a ball hog. Tua forced him to get better if he wanted to play.

Also now with a degree, I believe he doesn’t have to sit out a year as a transfer. Probably the biggest factor

My point. Now he can go and play anywhere.

This is the thread where we all pretend like our respective schools are virtuous and rigorous for athletes and the other schools just hand out degrees.....

There is not even a hint of animosity from Bama fans concerning Jalen transferring; ultimate teammate, class kid, good student and will be successful in the future; whatever his chosen path.

May as well join in, the aubs act like AU is some much more prestigious of a school to get into.... while Georgia and Auburn both let this cat in. Can’t understand a damn thing he says.

On the other hand, I know the standards seem to be quite a bit lower for athletes. After hearing some of these kids talk, I haven’t a clue how they made it through to get a diploma. Every time I hear Blake sims on WJOX I cringe because he’s such a bad speaker and genuinely comes across as dumb... maybe he’s just a nervous speaker.... but damn it’s bad...

When you consider that a lot of guys that play football might not be in college, period, if not for their sport, it's hard for me to believe they have such a high graduation rate.

If I'm, not mistaken, Ol Nick Marshall was valedictorian of his class.

Back in the 1970’s, I worked for a huge engineering company in Chicago. We hired hundreds of designers and drafters every year. Being an Affirmative Action Employer, we’d recruit at some of the inner city community colleges that offered AAS degrees in Drafting Technology. At Malcolm X College, 25% of the graduates couldn’t spell “Malcolm”. At Kennedy- King College, 50% of the graduates couldn’t spell “Kennedy”. Most of them spelled it phonetically: “Kinndy”. When I asked the Placement Directors at these schools what the entrance requirements were, they said if you graduated in the upper half of a city highschool, you had to be admitted.. They admitted that if an inner city kid showed up for class, didn’t commit a crime on school property and didn’t assault the staff, they would graduate in the upper 50% of their class and yet be completely illiterate.. Once they reached the inner city community colleges, the instructors just continued to give them passing grades, even though they were still illiterate. These poor kids then graduated with an AAS degree but with no job skills and unable to even fill out an employment application properly. I blame the corrupt and incompetent Chicago Democratic machine for allowing this to happen.
