I hunted up in Marion a few years ago and that area was slap loaded with big old fat turkeys. I'd go as early as possible because you can bet that even if the land you hunt isn't molested, the neighbors are pouring the groceries to them.

We went opening weekend last year. We hunted turkeys in a blizzard. We still we’re successful but it was dang sure interesting. We normally go the end of the second week
take your kids hunting and you won't be hunting your kids
