How often do you hit your fields with some high nitrogen fertilizer?

We applied nitrogen in December a few years ago. It gave our plots a boost. Members complained about the additional work so the next the year we put it out when we planted. Our plots looked great all season so we never split the application again. Prior to that we only used 13-13-13.

A lil at planting then topdress once established. It's just plots. We don't hit high production wheat acres but twice. Maybe 3 depending on rainfall and leaching

The more Sandy your soil is the more your plots will benefit from a dose of nitrogen 6-8 weeks after planting. If you have mostly clay it won't leech out nearly as quick and you may not see much diffrence with an extra dose.

If you're gonna be stupid you better be tough.
