Got an X-Stand sit and climb for Christmas last year and never used it except to try it out on Christmas day. Well I took it out to hunt with this weekend and when I got to the tree to set up I realized that one of the spring loaded pins that hold the cables in had broken off and fell out. I found the pin laying in the floor of the barn later that night and it looks like it just sheared off right at the top of the pin where it meets the ball that you pull it open with. I sure am glad that thing didn't pop out 20ft up. I'm going to contact X-Stand about replacement parts but I'm not sure if I'll ever have enough faith in that stand to use it now.

Dang man that’s not good. I don’t know if I’d have faith in it either! This would be a good opportunity to see what their curstoner service is like. I’d call them or email them and tell them what happened and see what they do.

If it broke off like that with NOONE in it, Id be afraid to go up in it to be honest.

The pins don't hold the weight, all they do is keep the cable from coming our of the channel. I'm wondering if I could just take all of the factory pins out and get some heavier duty pins from the hardware store to stick in them. I had really high hopes for this stand. With it only being 12lbs it was a pleasure to carry into the woods.

I bought one last year too.
Went outside, put it on a tree, and immediately sent it back.
I didn’t trust it at all.

Hate to hear that. I used one all last season no problems. Keep us posted.

Other than slipping a little while climbing my Xstand has been solid. I'm use to climbing a summit and need to get better at judging tree size to cable ratio.

I love mine, never had a problem through 4 years of almost exclusive use. Sorry that happened

If you get stuck and need to borrow a stand I have one you can use, just let me know.

Thanks for the offer honey lou lou, luckily my dad and I are gear junkies and we've still got three summits and two ol mans in the barn.

Well I just got an email back from them. After I sent them this long email about how it happened and expressing my concerns with the safety of the stand all I got back was, " We can send you another pin"

You wouldn't believe all of the returns I've had to take back on hunting gear. Quality control is crap. Manufacturers don't want to stand behind their products.
