A 110 from a 308? Must be singing. Why this choice though?
I sure you’ll find him. Hunting row crop land puts me near property line is and I want a tough bullet that I can shot thru both shoulders Am I the only one scratching my head on this? The sectional density of the 110g barnes in .308 is pretty low. Don’t get me wrong I love Barnes bullets and shoot the 100g in my 25-06 but it has a much higher SD than the 110g .308. The 150g TTSX would be a much better choice for doing what you want

I'm glad you found your buck but I'd be shooting 165gr bullets out of that.308 since the caliber was pretty much built around that weight and for good reason.
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Ammon and Woodrow made quick work of this one, he was about 200 yards from where he got up in the bean field and about 100 yards inside the woods. Apparently the deer had turned to a hard quartering to when I shot, the bullet went through the fleshy part of the brisket and blew out the off side shoulder. Things I did wrong: did not make sure I had a good broadside shot did not turn power down on scope as it got dark (realized this when i got the rifle out of the case this morning) Things I did right: backed out and resisted the urge to go looking for him last night marked hit site this morning resisted the urge to look for him this morning CALLED THE MAN I thought the deer took off on a death run after the shot when I saw it go down, that's why I immediately went to look for it. I honestly did not feel good about my chances for a recovery when I found all that bone and very little blood. I have learned a lot from these guys that track, they see more wounded deer in a season than most of us combined in a lifetime. I could have had 3 or 4 guys there this morning helping me look, and believe me they wanted to come. When in doubt, back out and call a dog!

God Woodrow didn't bite you. He's a bit touchy about his trophys. And even tho you're shooting the 110 ttsx that's a testament to how tough a bullet they are. Congrats on the recovery

Congrats!
Good call on backing out. Always smart on a afternoon hunt, no need to bump him in the dark and make it harder than it has to be. Waaaay easier to find next AM.

Awesome ending! Nice buck. God bless the trackers and their wonder dogs. They make for some happy hunters every season. I love these stories!
