One minute, my friend and fellow deacon Jerry Stover is living life to the fullest. The next minute, he is in a coma with no apparent brain activity. Over the past few days, his family went from making holiday plans to making funeral plans. Thankfully, Jerry is a rock solid Christian who accepted Jesus as his Savior years ago. That made Becky's decision easier to remove him from life support today. Any minute now, I will get the call to say he is gone. Of course we will miss Jerry but his death is not all doom and gloom. Jerry settled the single most important decision in life. You and I have to decide too. That is, we all have to accept or reject Jesus Christ as personal Savior. There is no third option. To reject Jesus is to choose eternal separation from God. Jerry Stover chose years ago to accept Jesus. We will mourn Jerry's death while also celebrating his life, knowing that Jerry chose wisely. Fellas...if you have never settled that decision, please don't put it off for another day. You may not have another day. Talk to your pastor or another Christian friend. Settle it now so you can know for certain where you will spend eternity. This may offend some, but truth can offend.
Jesus did not tell the crowds what they wanted to hear so they would keep coming back. He said what they needed to hear in case they never came back.

Well said. My pastor told me once, one of the things he was not prepared for was a funnel service where the family did not know if the deceased was saved or not. He said the difference in the mourning is night and day, Sorry Wildlife but it sounds like heaven will get a little bit better.
Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.

"Many are called, but few are chosen". I have been called many times, and answered that call, finally, and it has transformed my life in so many ways. I hope those who read these words of the OP will heed the call. Praise Him. Prayers for Brother Jerry.

Sure hate to hear it, but what a homecoming he will have in Heaven. Following is something I read in a devotion this morning, written by Dr. David Jeremiah.
We read of the world’s great men when they come home, how the crowds are waiting, the cannons saluting, the flags waving…. But that, my friend, is nothing compared to the thrill of dying, for the believing Christian. To come home, to leave these old clods of clay, to be loosed from the earth, to say good-bye to all that hinders, and then surrounded by heavenly hosts be carried by the angels…amid shouts of triumph of the saints in heaven awaiting us and all the innumerable company of angels…. When one thinks of this, one may well exclaim with Paul, ‘O death, where is thy victory?’” Jesus rose to remove the fear of death and prepare a place for us. Why should we dread such an adventure? Instead of a dreaded experience, it will be the most glorious thrill as a fit climax to a life of trial and struggle.
Jesus... I hope you know Him personally like I do.

The family will still be hurting and will need support from good friends like you, but you already knew that. Prayers sent for their comfort and yours..
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of one of His saints. We were created for eternity and we celebrate that your friend built his life on the Solid Rock with his eye on this moment

Got the call. Jerry passed away at 8:12pm. It would be fitting to play the Mercy Me song, "I Can Only Imagine."
