I'm surprised to hear you had a bad trip down there with them. I have taken four groups of clients in the last 4 years and had an awesome time with them. I've even got some of my customers on their wall of fame. Took 8 down this year, four of my folks connected with three at the taxidermist. We don't all see monsters everyday, but I've been very pleased overall with our results.

I use this trip as an incentives trip for my dealers and have taken 20-25 different guys down with a couple making multiple trips. Between the hunting and the food/entertainment by The Frees, I look forward to going again next year.

I will definitely have to mention your review to them tho to keep them on their toes!

I must say that I have beeen hunting with Tatum Creek for 17 years. These guys provide a great atmosphere and hunting experience. One thing you have to realize is that you are hunting open range with a chance to kill a great Alabama White Tail in prime hunting land. You are just like someone who gets a speeding ticket and get pissed off with the officer for doing his job when you have to big high expectations and want to go faster. You need to chill out!!!! We have been going there with a open mind knowing that you might kill a great deer or you might not. For you to demand and expect 100% kill is outragous and you need to only hunt in a fence and quit wearing your panties!!!! We always have a great time and enjoy our time with Tatum Creek! HOORAH!!!!!!!

Funny the number of first time post, or post from people who are never around, these topics always bring up.

I'm sorry that you view your experience as dissapointing. I booked a hunt with Tatum Creek as a "Dream Hunt" for my father. I can tell you that everything we experienced was first class. From the food, lodging, staff "guides", quality and quantity of deer was everything I could ask for and more. My dad had the time of his life and still talks about that trip to this day. Please remember that although William and Matt spend countless hours preparing the fields, stands and accomadations there is one thing that they cannot control and that is where the deer decide to roam that day. This is not a high fence operation and they manage thousands of acres. I realize that everyone has their own experience but I would highly recommend Tatum Creek to anyone looking for a great hunting experience.

$1900 for three days i would have expectations too, and it wouldn't involve a year and a half year old 5 point. Jpazacb for $1850 you can come to our place and hunt three days, you MIGHT see a deer you MIGHT not. But thats ok right. Just be open minded.

The world needs more people holding deer in pictures, and less people holding cameras in front of mirrors.

Although I view this regularly I've never posted, however since I have personal experience at this place I thought I owed it to the great people at Tatum Creek to comment. As a female hunter I was very hesitant about booking a hunt away from my home in Ohio. From the moment I arrived William, Matt and the "guys" were very respectful and courteous. I've heard about Southern hospitality and they definitely fit the bill.
The lodging was very comfortable and the food was amazing.
Every detail of my hunt was well thought out and attention to detail was amazing. I enjoyed my time there so much that the number of bucks I saw, of which there were many, was just icing on the cake to an awesome experience. Ladies I can tell you that this is one great place to hunt and experience Southern Hospitality!!!!

Most of those "seasoned guides" are likely to be electricians, carpenters or brick layers, in the real world, because they have to put groceries on the table. I've been there, and I can tell you how frustrating it is to use every trick in the bag and hunt all the great spots, just to come up dry. Then to have some greenhorn badmouthing his guide, when just last week you were the hero of everyone in camp, knowing damn well you ain't done anything different. The secret to being a good guide is having a likeable personality and being a good baby sitter, because taking the game animal comes down to luck, most of the time. Good luck today, bad luck tomorrow.

My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

My son Brian called me to say that someone was bashing Tatum Creek so I had to log in and comment. I was fortunate enough for him to book a father/son hunt with these guys in hopes that I could put one on the wall. Here in KY we have big bucks but the amount of pressure and guys that kill young bucks makes it hard for us to get a trophy on our 160 acres. I can tell you that this operation is first class all the way. From the moment we arrived William and the crew made us feel welcomed and most important to me "appreciated". The land was amazing and it was obvious to me that these guys live and die for growing big deer!!!! The green fields and shooting houses were perfect for a guy my age (63) and I swear I put on 5lbs from the food in 3 days. I'm sorry that someone on here had a bad experience but I honestly cannot understand how? Maybe flaw wasn't in the outfitter but rather in the hunter. I've been hunting long enough to know that memories of a hunt are not measured in antlers but rather the time spent with family and friends! Trust me the way they treat you at Tatum Creek, you will difinitely view them as friends.Oh and by the way, I finally got the big one for the wall..... Mark Avery

See what I mean? How many fist time posters can come to the support of this place or anyplace someone has a problem with. Where have all you guys been? And how did all of you mysteriously find this site at this particular time?

1. I know the owners, but not well, so I can only say they seem like good people. Usually if you are scum around here I would know it and I've never heard anything bad about them.

2. You were hunting some amazing land. There is not much better anywhere period. It is all about timing and being lucky. Right now alot of people in this area are getting frustrated because the weather has not encourged doe movement lately and the bucks are with the does. There have been a couple of good days, but overall it has been very hit and miss. You just didn't hit it at a lucky time, unfortunately. No matter how good it is in this area, it is still called hunting and not called shooting.

3. There is no excuse for a client to not feel like an outfitter and/or guide did not do all they could for the client to be happy. On the other hand I know from my good friends in the area who are outfitters/guides, there are some asses that you will never make happy no matter how hard you try. Just make sure you are not a person with unreasonable expectations before you negatively affect someones living. If they really didn't do all that was reasonable for you to see deer, eat well and be comfortable, then blast away.

4. Next year I would recommend the Morgan Academy Charity hunt. The land is just as good, the people are great, and it will cost you less money. I know all of us involved in it do all we can for the hunters to have a good experience and want them to come back. Plus it is for a good cause, namely the education of several Aldeer member's children.

Welcome to Aldeer!

Great Post!
