Had a button buck walk all around me and some Turkey's this pm. This am had a solid black coyote walk in my land. I drew and squeeked. He didn't wait long enough for a shot and ran out. I would habe had him tanned. Looked like a wolf.

I know where two of them black bastages live. One here in LA, and one in Selma. Hope you get him. My uncle has been a taxidermist all his life but he won't touch a coyote. He says they stink too bad.

I'm on nights this week but I am itching to go hunting. Should I get out in the woods this morning after work 8-12pm or this afternoon 2:30-dark today? Decisions

I’ll be out there this afternoon, let’s hope they’re moving No luck? Saw 5 does and a little basket rack, but nothing to shoot. I was in a spot where I’ve got a giant on camera, so it was a go big or go home afternoon for me. I Let the does walk but big boy never showed up. I did do a little scouting early in the afternoon and found some good stuff. Its only a matter of time til I get us a good one. Shooting a doe will be no problem. Just hoping one of the good bucks slips up soon.

Jumped multiple in the dark on the way in. No deer in stand. Wind felt like I was gonna blow out the tree. Got down and scouted top of the mountain and found a bench with whiteoaks every 50-100 yards. Deer turds everywhere. Gonna get a stand up there soon and then get em one afternoon. But I did find some mushrooms, hopefully can learn to cook them or I'll sell them to anyone that knows what they are doing.

So happy for my dad. Killed his first deer in years and first with a crossbow. All on the food plot we made this summer.

Well kinda long story. I went out yesterday morning, to some public land I just started hunting, after the storms hoping they would be moving. Saw 6 on the drive in, so I felt pretty good about seeing something. I crossed the creek which was up to my knee. Since it had stormed earlier I wasn’t concerned just irritated that my feet were soaked but I was only going in 500 yards. So I get set up and at daylight a couple turkeys fly down. About 730 I can hear something crossing the creek, or I thought I heard something crossing the creek. The noise kept going for the next hour. I kept noticing black object about 150 yards away by the creek moving around. I got my binos to see and noticed the water was moving fast. Much faster that what I recall cross and watched a log zip down the creek. Slightly alarmed I started packing my stuff up around 9. I made it to the creek about 920 and saw it was really high but since I didn’t cross that spot coming in I decided to walk back to the crossing. Before I could make it back I could see the water in the road, that’s when I knew I was in trouble. I got to a spot I crossed that morning in the road where the water was at my ankles, it was now at my knees. My concern was really starting to grow. I didn’t have cell service where I was. I pulled up HuntStand and found a spot I thought I could cross and started there. To cut the story down, I ended up checking 4 spots I thought I could cross before finding a spot. I had to walk though a guys cow pasture to get to his bridge. I was super relived at this point. When I finally made it back to my truck it was 218 and my tracker said I had done 9 miles. Lesson learned on this trip, don’t hunt after heavy rains
