I've been fiddling around coming up with new stand designs, among other ideas. Looking at the market, it is prime for a new revolutionary design that folks will want. Some treestand companies have come and gone. Tree Lounge is one of note. I about killed myself in one of them. One such company that I used to buy from, well, it seems they are not very up to date and are out of business. I just put up one of these stands the other day that I have had for 20 years. It is one my dad gave to me, so this company has a special place in my heart. Pisses me off to see their website. The oldest name in treestandsIf I go through with this, of course aldeer will be the first place I advertise. I'm not here promoting a product. I would just like some feedback from y'all on an idea. Thanks. I have a few questions for y'all. #1, What is your favorite climbing stand, and why do you like it? Mine is a summit because it is light, comfortable, and made in Alabama. #2, How often do you use a fixed position stand? Most oak trees are not really great for climbing stands. This is where a loc on is a must. #3 Do you use screw in steps or climbing sticks? There are pros and cons to both. Some of my stands I use both. #4 How important to you is comfort and safety, and which is more important? I have sacrificed safety for comfort, and vise versa. I am all about safety now, but when you are pressed for time, such as we all are, I can see how some folks would put safety aside. That shouldn't be a factor but it is. I appreciate your help.

Original Ol Man is by far my favorite climbing stand. There's not even a close 2nd
I hate lock on stands. Never found one I could sit in for much over 1/2 hour. Most of them are too small and very uncomfortable. When I did use them I prefer the screw in steps because they offer much more versatility.
Comfort is most important. I'll deal with the safety concerns for myself. Just build a sturdy comfortable stand. I don't need the cost inflated with additional cumbersome harnesses and ropes and escape devices or other sissy nonsense. I can provide my own safety equipment, or I can choose not to, either way it isn't the treestand maker's obligation.
My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

70% of my hunts are out of a climber other 30% are out of ladder stands and tripods. never liked lock on's . I'd rather hunt safely and sacrifice some comfort. I've always been an ol man fan but I recently sold all of mine.
new ole mans are piss poor.
Don't care for lone wolf climbers . recently bought one but returned it. there where several flaws that where deal breakers for me.
Bought my first summit goliath and I'm pretty satisfied with it.other summit models are too small.
I don't have a tree Walker nor have I hunted out of one but I think that they are a great design.
If you could put the summit cable and teeth on an old style ol man you would have the perfect climber .

That idea has potential. I've always liked the summit cable design, for it's simplicity and adjustability. The cable design makes it easier and safer to adjust the angle, while you're climbing, if needed. And once you practice with it a few times you'll figure out how to hook up and unhook quietly. In fact, a combination of the best features, of the summit and ol man, would certainly be an award winner in my opinion.

I’ll start with a hang on because that’s what I currently use. 1. Safety 2. Light weight 3. Easy to use/ set up, packing 4. Comfort- my lone wolf has a big platform which adds to comfort and feels a little more safe 5. Ive only used the lone wolf climbing sticks so I don’t have anything to compare them to besides the screw in steps and I would recommend the sticks over them any day. The strap and kicking system is fast and easy. I would like to try a stick with a double step instead of the alternating steps. The alternating steps are good I’d just like something to compare it to.
If I was going to buy a climber a treewalker would be hard to beat. I looked at them at the Dixie deer classic in Raleigh and probably would have bought one if hadn’t had already bought my Lone wolf. 1. Looked really safe 2. Super light with plenty of room 3. Came with a hazemore style seat 4. I liked the way it packed. It was machines at a close tolerance so it did t need a strap to hold to together. 5. My only dislike was the pins for the cables. I think this were summit got right with the way their stands are designed.

I have several climbers and the gunslinger is by far my favorite. It’s the only climber I can sit in all day. I just sold a gunslinger last month. guy drove from Atlanta to harpersville to get it.

#1, What is your favorite climbing stand, and why do you like it? Summit Titan, it’s roomy, comfortable and I feel safe while climbing and hunting.
#2, How often do you use a fixed position stand? Only when I hunt with a friend at their club. I only hunt public land so I’m ground hunting or climbing.
#3 Do you use screw in steps or climbing sticks? N/A.
#4 How important to you is comfort and safety, and which is more important? I would sacrifice a little bit of comfort for a very safe stand but I want both.

I got a couple ol man stands and an equalizer stand that's pretty neat it's got a dial that u adjust when your in tree to level it just right, however I hunt on the ground 80 percent of the time usually in thick stuff where u can't see far i use screw in steps for the couple of loc ons I have..ive sit in a gunslinger and have to say it's most comfortable climber I've sat in

#1. The original Ol' Man grand multivision that only adjusted on one side. You flipped the top portion over for a gun rest or footrest. Very comfortable and safe. The best seat of any climber I've sat in. Keep the same cable system of the original stand and the locking pins, not the dumb threaded ones.
#2. Fixed position stands. I use lockons mostly during bow season. I hate using them for gun hunting. I use ladder stands mostly during gun season(Ol' Man ladder stands, btw). Love the design of the Ol' Man ladder stands.
#3. Much rather use screw in steps. They're lightweight and easier to pack for me. Great for hang and hunt setups.
#4. I will never compromise safety for comfort.
83% of all statistics are made up.

My favorite is still the ol’ Man vision series. I’ve got one vision and two grand visions that I’ve been hunting 23 years. They are light enough to pack through the woods. Quick to set up or pull down and reset. Decently comfortable and quite safe. They’ll stick to most trees within the range of their diameter, beech being an exception(like climbing a steel power pole).
I mostly bow hunt from a climber and I go much higher sometimes than would be reasonable for a ladder(25-40 feet). I hate safety straps and harnesses so I won’t use them. I think it would be foolish to use a lock on without straping to the tree so I don’t use lock-ons.
Comfort and safety are equally important in a climber for me. Because I am not going to wear a harness it must be well built and able to keep me contained should I fall asleep on the stand. But if it isn’t comfortable to sit for several hours I won’t want to hunt from it. Also it needs to be QUIET.

I’m sorry Mdees but there’s zero excuse to not wear a harness. Absolute none. I’d venture to bet there’s more climbing stand accidents every year than lock on stand accidents. I care too much about my wife and kids and being able to provide for them than to climb a tree without a harness. Nowadays you can climb just as fast wearing them as you can without

#2, How often do you use a fixed position stand? Used to but haven't in a long time very cramped and uncomfortable!

#4 How important to you is comfort and safety, and which is more important? I would sacrifice a little bit of comfort for a very safe stand but I want both. Totally agree having fell from a tree stand a harness is always on!!
