2nd or 3rd. This will be the fourth year on the one i hunt and it's now too high and thick to get a shot. 2nd year was the best for seeing and able to shoot. He's right

I agree. Year 2-3 and maybe 4 if you can get close and be high in a tree. After that it is great bedding area and feeding only problem is you can only hunt the edges or fields if you happen to have one. I like hunting green fields that are surrounded by a thick 5-10 year old cutover. Deer bed all in it and will pop out in a field to get a bite any time of day.
If you're gonna be stupid you better be tough.

I'll add I've found bucks like long and narrow fields

We got 150 acres that is approaching its second year after clear cutting. Looks like a deer magnet . Have a couple trees picked out and can't wait to try them out.

Do you think a clearcut is best the for bedding after the first year, second, or 3rd? What kind of clear cut, pine or hardwood?
