I worked with vaccines for 19 years when I was in the poultry industry. Live, modified live and killed vaccines. Also I've had micro and disease classes. I know how all this works....
I've never gotten the flu from flu vaccine, but I have got cold symptoms every year that I took it. I had to take it for several years because I was on the Avian Influenza response team and that was a requirement for that team.

Aint no tellin what the government is injectin folks with. I wonder what the long term side affects are too?
Dont they say the young kids immunizations shots or whatever they are called have been traced back to all kinds of problems Who says that? And what kind of problems? Outside of a possible allergic reaction (which is possible with any substance any of us are exposed to) and some children with compromised immune systems that can't take vaccines I don't know of any credible evidence of problems with childhood vaccines. If you are talking about vaccines leading to autism that is complete nonsense.

I take mine every year because I make a killin'....ooops, I meant livin' off of sick folks and I don't need to get what they have so I can continue to work. So, to all you stalwarts saying you aren't getting it, I say Thank$$$! I've been to the doctor 1 time because of the flu and he basically said, "there's nothing I can do, it has to run its course. Go home, rest and drink plenty of fluids". So, I won't waste my money ever again on that bit of common knowledge. Letting the fever run its course can be a good thing, even in children.

If you work in healthcare, your employer requires you to get one, or you have to wear a mask for work during the flu season. (approx. Oct-March).
I have got a flu shot for the last 15+ years. One thing I have noticed in recent years is if a person has the flu shot and contracts the flu later in the season, their flu symptoms are attenuated. Flu is a virus and has to run it's course. Tamiflu will lessen the severity of the symptoms and shorten them from approx. 10 days to 3-5 days. Patients that come in and have taken the flu vaccine......it's like they already have taken Tamiflu.
My first case of flu I saw last year was an older gentleman in his 70's. He said he just felt puny and was not 100%. Felt that way for about 3 days. That was the worst of it.
Get your flu shot. It's not you (young and healthy) we are trying to save. It's your toddlers and grandmaw and grandpaw's that have a weak immune system and can't fight this crap off. Already an unvaccinated toddler died this past week from the flu. Quit being a bunch of pussies and think about your loved ones.

To those of you who say when you got the shot, then got the flu. Was it actually proven you had the flu or did you just feel bad and just believe you had the flu.

I'm 49, and as an adult I just never would get the flu shot because I had never ever had the real flu in my life. Real flu would go through school, family and I'd still never get it. So I was just assuming I'd be fine based on past history. Then one day about 3 years ago I got the REAL FLU. Apparently I had the flu so bad the only way I could have contacted it was by licking the door knobs at WalMart for 7 days in a row. It was brutal and I had it easy because I got Tamiflu very early on and it helped tremendously. So I learned a few things: 1. I hadn't gotten the flu before only because I just had not gotten it. Lucky. 2. Flu shots reduce your risk of getting the REAL flu, if properly timed ahead of flu season. 3. It seems that if you get flu shots then when you do get a strain of the real flu that wasn't the type in the vaccine it is not as severe. Several days of awful vs. A week + or horrible. 4. Hand washing, hand sanitizer, conscious effort to not put hands on face/mounth are great ways to reduce exposure. 5. If every person reduces their risk of getting the flu, then there is less flu being spread through schools, churches, businesses, events. 6. Now if I can figure to how to avoid bronchitis/Crud every December, I'd be in good shape.

Never had one and never had the flu. My daughter has only had the flu once and it was 3 weeks after she took the only flu shot she's ever had. I haven't had a flu shot in years. I quit getting one because i would get the flu right after I got the shot. Never failed. Every single time. I haven't had the flu since.
