I find it interesting, not necessarily disagreeing with you, but think it is interesting that you have Franchione as the worst Coach at A&M, but not the worst coach at bammer. That would mean that you think that DuBose must have been really bad. On a side note, I was among the last people to speak to Fran as the Alabama coach. Despite all the rumors, he had a speech scheduled with the Selma QB Club and I was his security. He got up and gave his speech never once mentioning leaving Bammer. He refused to answer questions about it. The plane took off and it did land in Tuscaloosa. It didn't stay long though as he was in Aggieland by lunch the next day.
And Orgeron as the worst at Ole Miss and now look at the job he is doing. It just show that some schools just aren't the right fit for a coach and other schools may fit him well. I thought Franchionne delivered on the field at Bama but got what he deserved at A&M when he bailed on the Bama players after asking them to hold the rope long enough for him to get a better job...BTW I think Dubose was so far over his head and somehow pulled an SEC championship out of his arse by beating FL twice in one season after losing to LA Tech.....I think Coach O learned quite a bit from his mistakes at Ole Miss but players seem to love playing for him......

Shula 4-9, 6-6, 10-2, 6-6= 26-23 Don't really have a dog in this fight but Shula was thrust into a bad situation. He may have the abilities but I don't think he's ever really wanted to be a head coach. He helped Bama when they were in desperate needs. Dumbose wanted to be the HC, but he never has and never will have what it takes.

Picking just one from Vanderbilt might be challenging but I'd have to go with Fred Pancoast, who coached there from 1975-78. He was 13-39 overall and 2-22 in the SEC with three straight 0-6 seasons in the SEC. How they won 13 games in four seasons is a mystery. A guy from my high school played there and Vandy was the first college game I ever saw in person. I was in junior high school and we went up to watch him. Dudley Field was a bandbox - still is. As to how times have changed, after one of the games we went to I walked into the locker room to ask players for autographs. Walked into the coach's office - the head coach of an SEC team - and he said, "How did you get in here?" before someone walked me out.  One time when I was covering either UA or AU playing up there, I think kickoff was 11 a.m. and I left H'sv at 8:30 a.m., which was late. Should've left at about 7. But I wheeled straight to the stadium, parked and walked in without encountering any traffic. What few fans were there already were in the stadium and there was no traffic. Walked into the pressbox, got a hot dog and Coke, found my seat and the national anthem was playing. Perfect timing.
