The safety is incorporated into the trigger guard. Clarify please. The earliest ones had the safety INSIDE the trigger guard. You pushed forward to flip it before pulling the trigger. Later models had it built into the trigger guard but as a standard left/right button like modern guns. Which do you have?

The 5M is a handy tidbit that wasn't included in the original post. 1965 standard grade. Browning has a very detailed history of each series on their website.

I've got a couple that are rough I bought in estate sales. What do y'all figure I should do with them... sell them or cerakote and get some new wood? I've got a 12 that is rough as a cob. I'm going to say it is NOT salvageable for some kinda show piece.... and I'll check the serial # but it is plain barrel and just a field grade gun so likely not worth it. I as thinking about cerakote for that one. Maybe some synthetic stocks if those are even made for the old guns and keep it and just use it.
Then I've got a light 20 that is salvageable... no serious rust or anything. Bluing is worn but overall decent shape. Needs a new stock someone cut about a 2-3 inches off it.. Anyone know where to get a stock set for a light 20?
Since we are on A-5's... These are a couple projects that I haven't started yet. I'm not an A-5 guy really but I shoot them really well so I was keeping these to use at some point.

They were good folks to deal with the handful of times I ordered from them

Well.... does anyone know if the stocks off a newer Jap A-5 would fit the older 20ga Belgium guns? I know they are not the same exact style but I can keep the originals.
I see Boyds makes some for the 12ga. I think. Light 12 it says.

According to the guy I talked to at Corson’s Barrels, the barrels will interchange. Stands to reason the stocks may as well. I think the receivers are all dimensionally the same

gundoc - you think you could get some light pitting off the outside of a gun like that by fill in with cerakote so that the finish would look smooth. I supposed you could just lightly sand and smooth it up first I might not really matter.
That cerakote that looks like bluing and some new stocks would put it back into action for a dove gun at least. I've shot it and it cycles. Don't remember if the barrel is thick enough to put some tubes in it. Would make a good gun just to shoot if it was cleaned up. I'd like to save it as a shooter not a restoration.

Yeah, probably. I have surprised myself at some of the pits and gouges I have been able to get out over the years.
