Have seen several diff properties either being sprayed or just sprayed in the last few weeks. What are they spraying on cutover that hasn’t been planted vs cutover that has been planted. The planted cutover has already been sprayed once this summer. Also noticed that they successfully blanketed a 2 acre pea patch that that is in the middle of a big section of cutover. Would they be using anything that might prevent weeds from coming up that might potentially affect that field this fall??

Typically, cutover that hasn’t been planted will get some version of gly(we always used Accord or AccordSP, has surfactant in SP) and imazypr(we used Arsenal for release and Chopper for site prep). If it’s not gonna be burned and not in sandy soil, Oust can be added to give you a herbaceous control for a few months in the Spring.
Planted cutovers usually got Arsenal and Escort(if it had a lot of briars).
We did a good bit of release work in mid to late summer, as well.
As Matt said, every tract could contain different species of weeds.

Well that sucks..... it’s our biggest field.
Any idea why they would have sprayed the same 2 year old cutover twice. About 2 months apart?? We were down mid summer and all of the fennel and briars were burnt back growing on the wind rows. Nothing was affected in the field. Yesterday the peas were curled and we found where the truck parked on the other side of the property. They always leave the mandatory blue shop towels as evidence I guess.
The cutover I saw being sprayed this past Saturday hasn’t been planted. When we got within 500 yards of it I told the guy that was with me it was round up. I have a good sniffer . I could read the label when we drove by the nurse tank/ truck and it had a 30 gal drum of roundup pro on the bed of the truck he was taking some form of pump out of the barrel.
