For those who built their own wood arrows, what does a dozen typically cost you to build?

I just ordered my first set from a guy that builds custom arrows. they are absolutely stunning, but they was also very expensive

I have made them up in the past but I would get the shafts already tapered and stained.
If you already have feathers on hand it helps.
I use tapered shafts though when I shoot wood.
Seems likebit ran me about $60 counting the feathers for tapered. Paralell shafts will be cheaper.

Just wanted to post a update to say I got my first set of cedar arrows in. Up till now I have only read about the pros and cons of wood arrows vs carbon. Well They fly great out of my bear takedown. I have shot at all my normal targets and see no reason they will not serve me just as well as my carbons or aluminum. Obviously they will be weaker and suffer more damage on missed shots but honestly I rarely completely miss my practice targets and if I hit or miss a deer and break one that’s just part of hunting. besides I have lost a few carbons as well over the years. If nothing changes my mind in the next few months. I believe I’ll convert to wood completely and start the process of learning to build my own. One reason I love traditional archery is its more than just flinging arrows. There is my 2 cents on wood vs carbon vs aluminum for trad gear. Not that it matters.

Good deal. I've shot mostly wood and aluminum but the last couple years I've been shooting Gt traditionals because my son gave me a bunch of them.
They all work well but I still say it's hard to beat a good quality tapered shaft...cedar or fir. They are forgiving.

Typically I can build a dozen arrows for right at 60.00. I use Parallel shafts and years ago I bought a lot of nocks, feathers and points. I built a point and nock tapering jig for belt sander and I also took an old sewing machine motor and made me a cresting lathe. I have two dozen under way right now using Douglas Fir shafts. When you are ready to start making them give me a shout and i iwll help you all I can.
