…..The arm chair experts here run off all the biologist and smart deer folks...... I used to feel sorry for them too until BSK quit because people protested against the new progressive, data driven way of doing things. That may have been a little bit of it, but I recall BSK saying he finally had enough of the trophy-QDM-NoFun-YoureNotARealHunter stuff all the time and how it got away from the basics of hunting, enjoying life and such. And good for him for that.

And good for him for that. I agree....could have been……I can’t blame him for feeling that way. I do recall him getting really butt hurt though right before he quit. It was something to the effect of…… “after years and years of us bitchin about wanting a better system….we were now protesting GC……..WTF!?!?!”…….It seems like I remember him really throwing in the towel on AL with that one. It was probably a combination of things I imagine. I’d still like for him to come back either way.

I think politics has taken a toll on the forum over the last few years…….on several levels. I know its been said there will never be another politics forum but still I think it’s a topic better off compartmentalized. I think a big segment of the public is just fatigued by it in general and it’s a big reason why people quit posting……Politics and Religion forum…..enter at yer own risk…..I mean how bad could it get….What could be said in there that Outback ain’t already saying in the general forum.  Other people I’ve seen disappear have been the “scholars” and “wildlife professionals”…….Folks like BSK, Goobler, Dr. D….etc…etc…..I really wish some of those folks would come back but that’s on them. I understand that “the public” can be aggravating to deal with but that’s just the nature of the beast. It’s on them if they throw up the white flag and concede out of frustration. I get it though…….I do…….I don’t blame them in some ways….They get bombarded with way more chit than the normal guy…..but still, there’s also just letting that kind of stuff roll right off of your shoulders. I sure miss the deeper conversations. I learned a lot by reading BSK’s posts…….. I doubt you'll see any of those folks back anytime soon. Same is said for other employees we've had on here over the years. Those folks tried to have good conversations and provide good content to the forum but the info was often rebuked in a less than professional/polite manner. Usually, while presenting their (professionals) side they are required to act with a certain decorum with the public. When they as professionals don't get the same level of respect they TRY and communicate with, why should they be expected to endure baseless arguments based on nothing more than emotion. I'm not saying that any of the current or past wildlife professionals that have come through this site have never been wrong, I'm sure they'd tell you they have been and probably more than they'd like to admit (I fall into this category). However, no wildlife professional in their right mind is going to get on a public forum and provide erroneous content/commentary on topics deliberately. And some probably just get tired of their job, employer, research, and performance getting put into question consistently simply because someone disagrees with them.

What happened to Blackhawk? I vaguely remembering him pulling something, don't I? He got banned. He had the stroke issue and there was something about a ground blind that was involved. Someone called him out for always asking for "charity" and he had a pretty negative response. I always got a kick out of it when he would get on a thread and post like 20 times in a row asking questions and then answering himself.

I’ve noticed at least one from my team in the turkey contest every year I’ve been in it always seems to disappear right before season opens and mysteriously reappear around the middle of summer... does that count??
