Just to ask a dumb question, why?
Not picking a fight here, just honestly curious as to why one would carry a sidearm while deer hunting. Unless you always always have one, of course.

I got a pistol and a permit but, just carry a big ol' knife. Lighter that even my smallest pistol. It's all about weight and comfort these days. Figure if somebody want a shoot me they will, and if'n a animal wants to attack me he'll git stuck.

I carry for multiple reasons and I can actually pull my sidearm faster than I can get my rifle off my shoulder.

I have a brother in law who carries a gun every where he goes ....I didnt carry a gun that much in the military and i was a ranger,however he is a little scared of the dark Carrying an M16, with 7 full mags and 40 pounds of flak & kevlar, everywhere, every day, made me appreciate my bow.
