I usually will add 1-2 screw in steps before I put my first stick to the tree. I’ll have a line on my stand to pull it up once I set the last stick that way I’m not climbing up and down a lot.

Just wondering what everyone’s technique is on hanging stands. How high are you trying to get?
Do you use a strap at the bottom? Just some do’s and donts when you set up.

I used to use hang ons when I was a skinny, nimble monkey.
No more, I hate those things.

I will usually attach 4 to 5 sections, depending on how high I need to be for that specific location. I use a device that attaches to the tree that has a built in pulley system that I can rachet up my stand and it will hold it in place while mounting or dismounting the stand. It takes all the pressure off of you trying to hold the stand in place. Lastly, I always place my stand where I am stepping off my ladder DOWN onto the stand. This is where 95% of your falls occur. I always attach a LIFELINE to all of my lockons, no reason to take any chance of falling. After the stand is hung, I will try and hand some moss or some other type of natural camo around the bottom of the stand with zip ties to provide extra cover.

Pretty much the way I do it with the exception of the camo on the bottom.

Regular stick ladders...i got a bunch...you buy 20ft ladder...you gonna need an extra section...sooo 25ft. Put the whole stick together on the ground...get something to scotch the bottom so it cant slide...walk it up the tree... It will be much easier to mauver grab the bottom and slide it up wer you need it..buckle it down. All my stands got backpack straps..put it on..got my rock harness and a caribeaner...clip in and buckle them as i climb. Climb to my 20ft spot with my last section above..hang stand at 20 and use the last section to brace an hang stand. Takes longer to put the sticks together than hang the stand. I can do this by myself in bout 10 min. I hung 16 stands once in a day. This works for pretty much any straightish tree. This is the way i hang stands on private land straight trees.

Crooked trees....buy a good quality set of combo sticks like lone wolf...and use your imagination cause they aint much protocal for them and i will almost always avoid it..but sometimes i cant...

Run and gun....see 1 stick climbing method...my versions better...and i make it look easy...video to come.

Im a loc on hangin machine....im heck on groundblinds too.

I have 4 hawk helium climbing sticks I use to be mobile. I will attach the first stick, hang two sticks off of my leg straps on my harness, and then attach second strap and continue. I also carry my stand on my back that way I only make one trip up the tree.

Put my ladder together on the ground, push it up to the tree. Strap it tight as I climb. Hang my receiver for my millennium. Pull stand up and hang, put two screw in steps above stand so I will have something to hold onto climbing in/out of stand. Attach pull up rope to hang about 5 ft off ground. Then put bow holder up and attach life line.

We put all the ladder sections together, use our lineman climbing rope and safety vest and attach cinch straps as you go up. Pull up rope is attached to harness and to the stand. Pull up stand and hang on a screw in step while getting rachet straps ready. Attach rachet straps, install safety line, climb into stand and tell me what limbs are in the way so I can saw them off.

only high enough to get up into the canopy of the tree i'm hanging the lock-on on ... for bow hunting, i tend to stay a bit lower than gun hunting (ie 15-20') ... with bow hunting, i'm thinking a lot about the angle of my shot
