I'm prolly a year away from upgrading bass boats but when I do I'm thinking of converting the old 15' bumblebee to all electric for fishing local reservoirs. Has any of you ever done this, if so any advice? Fishing for hours out of my flat bottom is uncomfortable at best. Even running good the bumblebee resale is pitiful. It already has casting decks & a livewell which would be super nice for watershed fishing.

What do you mean by all electric? Just a trolling motor or something else?

Yes, pull the 90 & add a trolling motor to the rear. I saw one similar at a watershed this spring, the rear of the boat was nearly out of the water due to the lack of weight on the rear. I figured someone here may have done this.

Why not just use a bow mounted foot controlled TM? My 80 lb will pull my boat 3.2 mph. If weight in the rear is a problem, filling the old fuel tank with water will surely help that. If that doesn't fix it, add more weight.

they are nor cheap; but you can put a Torquedo on the rear and hook it to the steering. I was planning to do that to an old BB ; but ended up buying a PondToon.

I have a bow mounted on it, the biggest thing is putting it back on the drive on trailer. I'll figure it out when the time comes.

Putting it on the trailer isn’t bad. Put the trolling motor on high. Head straight for the trailer. Keep the rope handle of the TM in your hand. Pull the TM up right as you get to the trailer. The boat should glide right on. If you’re a little short, you can usually dip the TM prop an inch or 2 in the water and finish putting it on trailer. Hook your winch to it, snug it up and go.

A buddy of mines parents live on an electric only lake in Hoover and everyone there has a pontoon boat with a huge minn kota on the back. They are specially made for this and are hooked up to the steering and throttle controls that you would usually use for an outboard. I’ve never seen one run but my buddy says they will run along pretty good.

Here it is in action. It’s called a minn kota e drive and it has power trim too. Bad part is it’s $3000 and 2 hp and 48 volt. Probably not what you want but would be really cool if money were not an option.
