People’s experience with them?

I thought about getting a couple for free range on our property.

Never had them but have heard they are great "watch dogs" and let you know when anybody shows up at your house.

My uncle ordered 20. They over nighted them the day they hatched and he picked them up at the post office. He is raising them in his basement. When they're 6 weeks old or so he's going to take them down to our place in Perry Co. and release them. Dang things are noisy. He told me that if I "accidentally" shoot one they are supposed to be decent table fare.

My dad had 6 of em. They decided the roof of the neighbors car was a good place to roost. We took em out to the huntin land and turned em loose. Next time I went out there all I saw was feathers everywhere on the ground.

We had a bunch of them when I was a kid. They are loud for sure and are coyote bait. But, they do eat good. I’ve been thinking of getting some more of them to let go at the farm.

We have about 15. I like having them around. If you can keep the hawks off of them, they are bug, tick, and ant eating machines. They are loud.

We use to have a bunch of them and for some reason they started fighting the chickens on the roost. I carried my 22 out one night and stopped that crap for good.

True. My BNL tried to bring me a few, but I told 'em to keep them annoying SOBs, I'd rather deal with the Bugs......

Good to eat, not sure except in dumplings. Somebody would always have them years ago at church during a "dinner on the grounds" or family reunion. Most liked the guinea and dumpling much better than chicken and dumpling.

I’m contemplating it but sounds like they’re a lot of trouble. More than their worth maybe. Besides moving to the country for the quiet. Sounds like that’s ruined.

If you like quiet and want birds, maybe you shouls try a few hen chickens. They dont make much noise. They eat bugs too.

You won't have to weedeat around bushes either.
