Thank God we do not have a State income tax in Florida!

Sounds like you need to have a face to face meeting with them. I had a problem with them also one year. We went back and forth with a different person every time. Finally asked for a meeting and it all got straightened out before I had it. My letter said I had to wait 30 days to call in to allow them time to transfer my case from Montgomery to our local office, and then I could call to setup an appointment for a meeting instead of waiting on the state guy to call me when ever its convenient for him within the next 6 months. And Wiley if I wanted an grammar lecture I would have found a educators forum to join instead of this one. Next time I'll make you happy and 575 dozen periods in your next post

I would hire an accountant. I already have one and she's fixing to get a call this morning

I am certainly not an attorney; but once everything is resolved in your favor. I would find the most knowledgeable tax attorney I could find and take the State to court. There are in fact penalties the State MUST pay for delinquent payments, at least from an invoicing perspective when a properly provided invoice matches a purchase order and I would assume the same would be true for a properly filed income tax - but, I am just speculating.
