So for the last couple of years I have lost 1 or 2 perfectly healthy squash plants. My only guess is squash vine borers. I have heard about them, but have never seen them. I just looked in the vine of 3 recent victims and didn’t see any bugs. Perhaps they have already moved on? Perhaps something else is killing them? What do the Aldeer experts say?

On a random side note, I thought it was pretty neat the original seed is still clinging on to this fully grown root.

Look under the leaves for eggs.

And cuts at base of stem with orange filth coming out. You and pick off the tiny eggs and even cut out the grub from the stem. It is a large orange moth that lays the eggs and I hate them.

Eggs under leaves is squash bugs, not vine borers. I mixed some Hi-yield dust in the hole when I planted mine. Seemed to help some
