222 Purple is for small screws. Anyone that would use red with a number in the 260's or 270's is a glutton for punishment.
I use a lot of Red #271 on dies that take a brutal beating. Usually the bolt will break before it backs out with 271 on it. Takes heat to break em loose. Put that stuff on small screws ya better mean for it to NEVER be disassembled.

If you or someone you love is considering using RED Loctite anywhere near a firearm, do them a favor and punch them in the throat. Drill it out and tap it for a larger screw.

I had a rifle with some that had been put on the base. It was a permanent mount.

Most morons know that red loctite is a permanent solution. Blue is for something you might want to later remove.
My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

Hit it with a heat gun. I always put red Loctite on the front sights of my pistols. I have always been able to remove the sights after heating them up.

I use it for sights that are slightly loose. Never had one come off. \
I also use it on staked on 1911 sights when staking a new sight. Never had one of those come back either.
I use it on 1911 grip screw bushings too. I have never had a problem getting those loose without heat if I needed to in the past.
I know a guy that used it on his 1911 slide rails. No idea why he thought that was a good idea ... He wound up bringing me that gun to get working again
Heat will help make it turn loose though.

Heat wouldn't budge it. Ended up drilling and tapping to 8-32. New mounts went on with 222 purple Loctite. Everything lined up and the rings didn't need lapping. Can't argue with that.

It may or may not work in this situation depending on the material (might melt if not steel) but try a butane torch in the future on small screws on firearms or similar.... on something bigger obviously a propane torch is what you want. The Loctite will melt. Soldering iron isn't going to cut it likely, maybe with a big enough end on it. When you see it bubble out that's when you want to back the screw, nut, etc. off rather quickly before it cools and it should come right out.
I don't know how many idiots have put red on scope mounts over the years but I think I've bought every one of their guns. Truly amazed at how many people can't property mount a scope and/or have common sense.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

I've seen some total clusterflock scope mounting jobs in my time that just left me shaking my head.

Had a feller put some 271 on some 10-32 flatheads a few weeks ago. We prime our bolts / screws and treaded holes so our Loctite STICKS! All was good until I was the one to have to remove them. We had words over it.
