Y'all that are downing $30k /year with benefits are forgetting about the $10k Tax refund. That's $40k w/ Benefits. And if folks would stick that Tax Windfall in the bank for emergencies instead of a couple new IPhones, a 60" flat screen and new wheels and a lift for the truck, they could have a little savings.
A tax refund doesn’t add to what you make, it gives you back what you have paid. So, it isn’t going to increase your income and certainly isn’t going to make someone who makes $30,000 all the sudden make $40,000

The one program that Trump needs to overhaul the most is the welfare/benefits system. If he could change that, a lot of the others would fall into place. Amen
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

You don't have to pay taxes to qualify for certain credits that can result in a refund.

I guess if one household makes 30,000 and has 5-7 dependent chillens, yeah, they could make $10,000.

I have been looking for help for over a year. You would think paying over 30k a year and having benefits for unskilled workers would attract someone. If I could find the right ones I would hire 5 ranging from 30k -50k tomorrow. Nobody want to work for a paycheck anymore. What type of work do you do? Im just curious. Run a tire and automotive shop. Oil change/tire guys make around 32k plus, bcbs ins, matching 401k 3% + 1/2 over 3%, up to 3 weeks vacation, uniforms ect. Plus I will pay for any training they want. Both of my mechanics started out on oil changes and now make over 50k.

The government decides you only have owed $3500...they REFUND you $3500 out of the $7000 they have already deducted weekly. That is why it is called a REFUND. So out of that $30,000 in income you PAY $3500 in taxes..meaning you only made $26500 AFTER taxes. The $3500 they REFUND you was yours that they deducted previously.

Yep...it is a joke. It is Wealth Redistribution. People who PAY nothing in getting a REFUND. It does not even make freaking sense.

If you are single with no children you can’t have an adjusted gross income over $15,000 to get an earned income tax credit, married $20,000 and you only get $500. If you have one child, the limit is $40,000 but you only get $3,400. You are not getting $10,000 tax credit return on $30,000

Of the 40+ tax years I've filed in my lifetime, I've never seen anything remotely close to a $10,000 refund!

I think the title of this thread needs to be "More jobs available than people willing to work" When I left the world of management I had to hire 5 to get 1 and sometimes it was worse than that. The two biggest problems I had with workers were
1 Employees not working when they got to work
2 Employees not showing up on time
Has it changed any since then?
When I need expert advice I tend to talk to myself The older I get the better I used to be

Has it changed any since then? No. And when you're dealing with subcontractors it's even worse. You'll waste had your time showing jobs, over and over, because the subs don't show up or don't do what they were contracted to do.
