Digging up an old thread. Hopefully some of y'all with experience can help. About what rate would you use in plots? I found a study done by UGA but they were applying like 500 lbs/ acre. I dont think my local Lowes has that much in stock.

50# to the acre is plenty to keep deer off for 4-6 weeks.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

I have one field that is 2+ But the other 4 we are doing are all 1 acre give or take a little. May be too small but we are gunna give it a shot. We did have around 100 acres go through a first thinning this winter and also had 32 acres clear cut so there is a fair amount of browse around. Hoping that it will keep them occupied while the plots mature.
Taking the bush hog to some of those thinned lanes soon with some Fert to follow

We’ve found little value in milorganite being a deer deterrent. This year we planted 80 acs of NWTF soybeans on a 1250 ac tract. As an experiment we applied 1800# per ac of milorganite 3 weeks post emergence. In every field we also hung the empty milorganite bags (1800# nylon super sacks) in trees around field edges for a visual effect. By week 5, some of the treated fields were eaten to bare dirt. Other fields, that are only a few hundred yards away, are reaching canopy closure and have not experienced browse excess browse pressure. Hardly any difference between treated and untreated fields. Seems like deer just like to feed in certain fields more than others. So far this year we have applied 210 tons of milorganite to corn and soybean fields. Main benefit is the N, P and micro-nutrients. We are trying it as a replacement for chicken manure and was hoping it would be a deer deterrent in soybeans. I didn’t see any difference Hmm interesting. Thanks for sharing. High or low density deer population?

I got some put out in our first plot. It is by no means a large field ( only about and acre ) but there is so much forage in our woods right now im hoping that in combination with the Milorganite will let it, along with our other 4, get established.
Heading back one day this week to check.
