I bumped a buck bedded within spitting distance of a hiking trail one time. I nearly stepped on him after I got off the trail. Guess he sat there listening to people walk by. U?

Yep. Right near the ranger station.

Found a spotted fawn in my shed and mommas tracks leading to it. If not for looking at the does tracks I would have never seen the fawn in the shed.

I've heard of deer bedding in large pipes or culverts. Never personally seen it.

Found a few deer beds in an old falling apart barn that was overgrown in privet once.

Found a good many beds at the bottom of sheer bluffs, even under overhanging rocks.

I found a large bed with a matching set of sheds laying by it.

I found one spot not 15 yards from an intersection in a public road that formed a Y. There was 4 beds in the notch of the Y where the beds were only about 15-20 yards from both roads.

Not a bed, but I killed a doe that was standing in a hiking trail.

I found a doe ten feet from me, while I was putting a climber on a tree to watch the edge of a big field of sage. She was gonna lay there and watch me put that stand on the tree. Once I was up the tree, I'd sat there thirty mins and several stood up in that sage field, then laid back down. I walked thru that sage to get to the tree.
Speaking of beds. Do you know how to tell a does bed from a bucks?
A buck won't pee or crap in his bed, a doe will and lay back down in it.

a kid in our club a while back , he's a grown man with wife and kids now, but then he was about 12-14 then . he went to a patch and sat in his dads ladder stand , he said it got light enough to see and he saw a dead doe about 15 ft behind the stand . turned out she was asleep and when she started waking up he realized she was alive and he shot her . for a while he got the name "the sleeping doe killer"

I'd agree with that and they think no one will hunt them there. They're smart, especially the old solitary bucks.

I've got a ground blind tucked on a shelf on side of a big ridge that I only hunt when bucks are cruising. Jan 2017 I found a deer bed up against the south side of that blind. I'm guessing it was only windbreak on whole ridge but didn't really think a whole lot of it. Later that afternoon I shoot a nice 8pt at 60yds walking down trail straight towards the blind and that deer bed. Was it his? Who knows. But pretty cool either way.

I have a cousin who once jumped a deer bedding inside the John Oliver cabin at Cades Cove.
I have found public land deer bedding right beside the hunter campgrounds and several popular parking spots. Seems like they learn that hunters never hunt where they sleep or park.

Before I tore it down, the blacktails liked to escape the summer heat by resting in the shade of this old trailer shed.
Can you see both bucks?

Here is a closer shot of the larger one...I like the way he hides behind a brush pile.
