I got a 1 acre pond i probably had over 150 turtles in. So i put a ladder stand next to the bank to shoot them with a .22 so i can shoot down and it wont ricochet. I shot maybe 20 yesterday trying to come eat the floating feed, but there were maybe 20 or 30 heads across i couldnt safely shoot at. then today i did the same thing but only shot 3 and didnt even see but maybe 3 or 4 more across the whole pond. its almost like they abandoned the pond when i killed 20. are turtles that smart will they abandon a pond if enough of em wind up dead?

Build a trap, you can wipe them out

Bait caster treble hook and a weight is all you need. We killed 30 plus out of a pond one afternoon. Snatch them get them to the bank smash with a rock and throw them in the road. You should have heard the crazy bitches screaming at us as they tried to put them in the creek to revive them. Mr smitt laughed his ass off laying in the shade while we got chewed out. Snatch another repeat and crazies squal. Damn that was fun.

Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

This has nothing to do with your post but its kinda funny. I live by a creek and there is a bridge that kids fish off of. The turtles are thick too. 2 young boys about 13 was fishin and tryin to catch turtles. I asked why and hoped they would wipe em out. They said they catch them and sellem to some asians on social media. I warned that i was pretty sure thats illegal. They laughed and said well we get 5 bucks a turtle and they want more lol!

Hey OP.....I'm a bit lazy and old so I provided and induced my grandkids into shootin em...very few dead turts and holes in two boats but it was well worth it.. I did instruct them them on ricochet and the consequences.

A gator would be great unless you have a dog that you like. A dog is like filet mignon to a gator as I'm told.

A buddy of mine built one a few years back - he had very good success. A few chicken necks, a carpeted plank, and a framed wooden box with wrapped in chicken wire slightly submerged in water. Turtles walk the plank, so to speak, fall into trap and can’t get out.
