I'm pretty sure a Florida deputy ain't making $100k in retirement income. I say this story is BS. Skinny may be right, somebody found out what his first check was, and make a huge assumption.
My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

I sat next to a fireman/EMT on a plane headed for Vegas last year and he said they’re very well paid in Nevada. Much better than what I’d expect for Alabama.

I can believe $100K in South Florida, assuming they're working some-goodbit of over time.

There is a fair bit of outrage up our way right now over the Probate Judge retirement being changed. The new rule for Marion county allows the Probate judge to draw 75% of hit salary which is now pegged at 90% of the district judges salary after 12 years of service and reaching 60 years of age. I think those are the correct numbers without looking works out to about $85k/year after 12 years of service I think the rest of the counties in the state are on a similar system and higher than that.

Alabama judges have the most (extremely overly) "generous" retirement benefit in the entire country. Totally outrageous rip off. No public service sector employee should ever get more then 50% of their last regular salary. This is why State and local pension systems are going broke all over the country. And of course it is the worst in the liberal States where their State constitutions allow for deficit financing of their State budege and obligations - the State debt of Illinois, Kalifornistan and some New England/Northeast States is unbelievable. A little known Marxist federal agency: Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation. Look it up - total taxpayer rip off of epic proportions. All that crap eventually gets paid by the federal taxpayer when the pension plan goes belly up, kind of like FDIC for bank deposits, CDs, etc.

The $8,000 is actually $8,702.35, only a damn union job could you F'up so badly resulting in a massive loss of life and you get $104,428.20 yearly for the rest of your life to count cars driving by your house, watch the ceiling fan spin and count blades of grass per sqft. Most of society calls that, you're fired.
