Let's hear your favorite strategies for afternoon hunts. Especially on turkeys that don't gobble late in the day.

mid afternoon I'd get where I've seen them strut or feeding. if you're going to wait until after 5 I'd go get where you've heard turkeys gobble on the roost. unless one gets fired up, I wouldn't get too aggressive with the calling and do it in intervals.. as in like every 15 mins to start out then maybe go to every 25/30 mins. about all you can do other than just sit and wait one out or find one in a field

I usually just move from field to field sitting at each for an hour calling every little bit. Hard to do anything else if they don't gobble. I've scared more turkeys moving around a bunch in the afternoons when they aren't gobbling.

Walk around and call if one gobbles then hunt him otherwise go fishing. Hunted 1 afternoon this year. Heard him gobble got dressed got him killed in about 5 minutes.

This is pretty much what I do the only thing I might add is I wil! Throw out a decoy every time I set up in each field or food plot.

I have moved from small green fields to pasture, in the evenings.
And have killed several turkeys that way.
But they rarely gobble and it's not nearly as much fun.

That's why I've never been much on afternoons. I've always been a hunt them off the roost kind of hunter. Trying to expand my horizons LOL.

He never responded to my setup this evening but I did make him change trees walking out. If he gobbles I will try to hunt him. If not I'll ease out and try again
