Anyone familiar with how to catch them. I guess you can use tiny jigs. What type of area is best? I have heard they congregate around beaver houses. I would like to find and catch some for bait.

Thanks in advanced

I have caught a few while crappie fishing. Calm pockets with cat tails is where I have caught them.

I have caught them for years. Use a tiny hook. #12 or smaller. Cut off about 1/5 of an inch off an earth worm and put that on the hook. Put a tiny cork about one foot above the hook. Slash around til you find them. Don't wait for the cork to go under. when it starts moving, start reeling. Don't set the hook

Dog food, or oatmeal, and a cast net.

Tiny Little bread balls used as chum and on a itty bitty hook.

i saw a bunch of them schooling on lay lake late in the summer last year in the back of a slough. my 9 foot cast net made quick work of them. i think i put 250 or so, anywhere from 4 to 8 inches long in the bait tank in about 10 minutes.

Yeah c’mon. Daniel White

Cast net is definitely the fastest and best way, but a lot of the places I fish have way too many stumps and brush to throw a cast net. I prefer using a tiny piece of worm over bread because it stays on the hook better.
