Good heavens . . . all these brands -- Primos, Dead Down Wind, Hunters Specialties -- make you stink like you haven't washed or showered in DAYS! Am I the only one who thinks he would smell better just to wash in non-scent soap and go with no deo rather than use these non-scent hunter deodorants? Every year I'm surprised that they do exactly opposite of what they advertise to do.

You must be ill, DEAD DOWN WIND does not make you stink ! I can't speak for the other brands, but you are wrong about this one.

DDW works great for me, don't know about the others...

I have nothing against DDW products in general, but the deodorant leaves me in two hours smelling like the kid in middle school who never bathed and the DDW detergent makes my hunting clothes -- I'm not kidding or exaggerating here -- smell like burned baloney or scorched lunch meat.

I wish I were making this up, gentlemen!

Perhaps you just sweat alot. I know this sounds weird but my youngest son sweats bad and his BO will get worse faster than most grown men. He is only 10. He has been using deodorant since he was 6.

We asked the doctor and he just said some people are worse than others.

I really dont think it could be the deodorant.

I've always thought they don't work that well myself so that's why I started using an unscented deodorant in the "regular" brands. There are several to choose from. Plus, they are cheaper since they aren't a specialty deodorant designed for the free spending hunters. grin

Every day (hunting or not) - Dial soap, Crystal deoderant, clean cloths washed in Tide Free. Hunting cloths & boots sprayed down w/ DDW (this year w/ Primos Silver). Boiled peanuts to snack on... they like the smell of peanut breath.

I also use just the regular unscented deodorant.

I use Arm and Hammer unscented antiperspirant any day that I think I might go hunting. I use Clinical strength Degree every other stick or so on non hunting days. If I don't I get the funk smell quickly.

The DDW liquid body wash does have a funky smell, but I think it's the stuff that kills the bacteria that smells funny. My skin has no odor (to me) after I use it.

More than likely your son has a zinc deficiency. Try giving him a high quality zinc supplement and see if that helps. I think zinc citrate is the more preferred form as the oxide isn't as easily converted.

Seems like whether I use Arm & Hammer unscented or any of the hunting brands either one, I have to use 4 times as many swipes as the Degree I use every day to keep from stinking. Not sure why it doesn't work nearly as well, but I just put more on and go with it.

I know exactly what you mean on the DDW stuff. Their spray will get to point that it smells just like bacon grease to me. I've got some of their shampoo right now that smells the same. Their stuff must have some kind of shelf life due to the organic materials in it or something. I don't get to hunt enough to use up their stuff before it ruins so I'm gonna quit using it altogether....just wasting my money.

Exactly! There is kind of a burned pork smell to a lot of DDW products. I'm glad to know someone else has smelled it too.

I like the DDW hunter's toothpaste. No problems there.

Does it taste like bacon? If it does, I'm in. laugh

Deodorant doesn't help with sweating, you need an antiperspirant as well. I use a regular unscented antiperspirant. I think it is right guard spray on, I use it everyday.
