I met him at a signing in about 1983 at the Gayfers in Fort Walton Beach. I still have the baseball he signed. I'll start taking bids at $5,000.

I wished baseball cards in general were worth something now-a-days. I have some that may could contribute to my retirement fund.

He is referring to a certificate of authenticity by a company such as PSA or JSA. You send them the ball or whatever it is you have auto'd and pay a fee to have them authenticate it and they return the item with a certificate stating that it is real.
