Go to a Thai restaurant and tell them you want your food Thai hot. There's hot and then there is Thai hot. And then be ready to find a bathroom. In the traditional presentation, sushi and sashimi is not eaten with soy and 'wasabi' and especially not mixed for dipping. That is an American bastardization that started with the sushi craze 25 years ago because of the "Ewww, raw fish?" responses. Japanese sushi is considered an art. Sushi masters and those who create it think those of us who use soy and 'wasabi' are uncouth morons. The art of cutting the fish, preparing the rice and presenting the finished product is steeped in centuries of tradition. This is a great book about sushi and its history: The Story of Sushi: An Unlikely Saga of Raw Fish and Rice, by Trevor Corson That said, I like the soy and wasabi now and then. I don't eat sushi often because I'd spend too much money on it. My son and I went here in Huntspatch one night and I think the bill for us was $60-plus. If you haven't seen the Netflix documentary on the famous sushi place in Japan, check it out. I think it's $400-500/person to eat there. Only like 6-8 spots a night. He hand-serves you every "course". Very unassuming looking place.

I like to tell people that the sushi I got at the 'konbini' (convenience store=7-11, Lawson, etc.) was about 10 times as good as any at so-called sushi restaurants here. And the good places I went to were just terrific, nothing like them here.

I haven't had Wasabi since I was in Truk Lagoon in '93. I went diving every chance that I got while working there. The dive guides would take bunches of bananas out to trade for big tuna from the Taiwanese longliners after our last dive of the day. They'd take the fish back to the restaurant on the island and have Sashimi made for later in the evening. They claimed to make the Wasabi too. Best, freshest Sashimi and Wasabi I ever had.
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

I'm with Clem on this. I love sushi but don't really ever go out for it cause I can eat hundreds of dollars of the stuff, then want to run to Taco Bell on the way home. I just never get satiated.

First time I ever had Susi I had to be persuaded by my sister. I finally decided to drown the fish taste with the green paste on the table. Man I put that stuff on like butter on bread.. She didn't tell me it was HOT. I dang near died. Not really die but DAYUM. LOL
