I was right where I am now. We used the picture of the mailbox with snow on it for our Christmas card the next year. Been living here on my little piece of paradise for 27 years. Ill never forget sitting here watching lightning and hearing thunder during a raging snowstorm. Wind was crazy, snowing sideways and drifts 3-4' in places. Lost power for a couple of days and the only heat we had was the fireplace

Doing donuts in a church parking lot on Tyler road in Vestavia. in my 1989 Dodge Raider with a buddy of mine! The next morning I was siphoning gas out of it to get his dads generator running. Over 17" of snow and no power for about a week. Thank goodness for that generator. He tuned one floodlight on just to piss off the neighbors. Seems like yesterday, and I still miss that little Raider.

I was still living in Florida. We had it knee-deep there.

We were living on Cambric Ln. in Leeds, AL. and got about 18" of snow. I remember the lightening and thunder and all the pines in our yard cracking and breaking under the weight of the snow. We had a gas stove and gas hot water and that was our saving grace, because we went without electricity for a week. We filled up large pans with hot water and basically stayed in our big king sized bead with our 2 kids at the time. Chris was about 5 and his sister was about 4. We ate a lot of snow ice cream.

I remember listening to the radio and everyone calling in talking about all the tips and tricks they were using to survive.

I remember the day the Alabama Power truck rolled into our little neighborhood and everyone came out of their houses into the snow and cheered on either side of the street. Those linemen were like rock stars.

i spend days and days afterward cleaning up all the broken branches and tree limbs and piling them at the curb for the street and sanitation to pick-up.

Your mom’s house
I finished my last final of the winter quarter and was suppose to leave to go to spring break. My girlfriend’s parents called and told her they didn’t think she should go because of the weather. So we decided to delay a day. Ended up snowed in at my parent’s house for I don’t know how long.

I was working in Quincy Florida framing a motel at the exit at I 10. There was six of us working. We were in normal framer crew attire., shorts, nail belt and tennis shoes. Superintendent came out of the trailer that was set up on site and told us we needed to roll em up and head back to Greenville, Alabama because the the weather was was fixing to turn bad. We laughed at him and told him he had had been drinking to much.
About an hour later superintendent walks back out and tells my boss that his wife is on the phone and needs to speak to him. She tells him we might ought to think about heading on in to Greenville. He blows it of and we work for another hour or so.
We take a break around lunch and are listening to the radio and they are talking about the blizzard that is coming. Boss calls wife in Greenville and ask how's the weather. She tells him its already snowing in Gville. We roll em up and head out.
We get to Dothan and it is snowing sideways. We got to Troy just before they closed 231. From Troy to Greenville it took us 3 hours to get home in a F250 4 wheel drive crew cab. Had to take every side road in Crenshaw and Butler county to get back home. Trees down everywhere and more snow than I've ever seen except on TV. Power stayed out at my girlfriend at the time house for a week in Crenshaw county for 8 days.
I don't know how people in the north western part of the country deal with that stuff every year. If I never see snow like that in south Alabama again it will be to soon. Lol!

It's pretty memorable. Its the day my wife got pregnant with our first.

There seems to be some kind of correlation with snow and conception dates. smile
