Fully automatic guns and semi auto rifles with short barrels. Neither are banned, do you feel that they should be? Your right. Banned was not the right word to use. In the last assault rifle ban, they weren't really banned either. You could still buy them with the process you guys are talking about. Is that correct? Yes, since the NFA was enacted you have still been able to purchase automatics and SBR's with a $200 tax stamp. I agree with you that we are headed down the road towards more gun control, we are ALWAYS headed down that road and must stop it before we reach that point. An inanimate object does not perform evil acts.

I knew that my statement wasn't going to be very popular. I get it, the 2nd amendment has nothing to do with hunting. It has to do with the people being able to stand up to a tyrannical government. I don't think a semi auto weapon with a large clip will make a difference when standing up to the military anymore. That was written along time ago in an age before missiles lol. I know I'm in the minority here, and if I were into the whole AR thing I'm sure I would feel different about it. With that being said you guys do see that we've already started "down that road". There are many banned guns already. They are banned because it's easy to kill a large number of people with them. We have been on this road for a long time You are a fool. You are more dangerous to our freedoms than the liberal wackos on CNN. Just because "we've started down that road" we should just accept what is coming and abdicate the rights that are the foundation of our country? This isn't just about the 2nd amendment, its about the entire document. Our freedoms are being lost every day. Without the protection of the 2nd amendment, ALL of our freedoms are in jeopardy. But you are a misinformed, spineless idiot who thinks we should bend over and accept what's coming. NOT ME! NEVER!!!

If the past 3-4 school shootings were done using scoped rifles at a distance the snowflakes would be trying to ban either scopes, scoped rifles or any gun capable of shooting 300 yards or more.
If it was done with pistols then they would be trying to ban pistols with certain mag capacities.
If it was done with a shotgun with a tube extension then they would try and ban tube extensions.
However many people will die today due to texting and driving and drinking and driving yet nobody is calling for ban on either.
How many abortions will be conducted today? Yes I agree man. It doesn't make sense that they think a ban will solve anything. Look guys, I maybe wrong on this. I'm not a sporting rifle or assault rifle owner. I'm not above saying that I am wrong at all. All of the points you've made (except the one saying I'm trolling) are valid points. On a different note, how did you think Marco did last night?

Just like the idiot woman at the town hall who doesn't under stand the context of the phrase "well-regulated militia" in the 2nd amendment has nothing to do with restricting the peoples right to keep and bear arms. I only own 1 AR rifle and am not planning to purchase any more. Especially now that there will be fear motivated price gouging on these guns just like after the Sandy Hook incident. But I will stand for other's RIGHT to purchase them.

But I will stand for other's RIGHT to purchase them. That is a very well put point. The only reason I used those terms is because that's what Joshm28 called them. Heck I've always called them a machine gun. I know that's not the right term but I've called them that since we were kids playing army in the woods behind our house. Apart from all the ugly names the one guy called me, I see where y'all are coming from. And the more I look at it and listen to your arguments the more I understand and agree with you. I probably do need to change my opinion about the ARs.

The most used phrase in the Bible is: do not fear - do not be afraid. When the government responds to violence by taking away our freedoms (via laws) it teaches us and our children to live in fear.
Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.

Personally, and this is just me, I don't see the purpose in assault rifles. I have no desire to own one. It wouldn't effect me at all if they banned a rifle that looks like a machine gun. Just keep the ones that look like hunting guns and I'm happy. I don't believe for one minute that a ban would change a thing. Evil is evil. [/quote

I don't think a semi auto weapon with a large clip will make a difference when standing up to the military anymore. This counterpoint seems to be a favorite among gun control advocates, and it's just downright dumb. Oh, basic semiauto weapons are useless against the US Gov't "these days"? Seems like a bunch of poor people with rusty AK's and homemade explosives have been giving us quite a bit of trouble in the Middle East for years. Your argument is invalid.

Most people refer to the AR type rifles as either sporting rifles or assault rifles. You are just as entitled to your opinion as any one else, but if you think they won't take your "hunting firearms and a pistol" if they can, you are wrong. The 'assault weapon' phrase is just a common theme and starting point to unite all the gun banners and try to find a crack to start banning whatever they can ban (certain magazines, rifles, pistols, attachments, or firearms based on the way they operate) and move on to the next item from there. They would not even leave us a musket if they had their way.

On the news this morning they were talking about a bill someone put up to ban several rifles and shotguns that met certain criteria. It had some language in there about automatic rifles. If you think for one second they won’t come after a deer rifle if they get something passed with that in it you are fooling yourself. They will play off any law they can pass to further erode our rights one piece at a time.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!
