I'm on a tight budget and I use Thompson's and it lasts about 6 months. I have heard of diesel fuel and motor oil, sounds risky. That would y'all recommend?

Nothing wrong with a tight budget. Anything tight is always a good thing for a deck.
Diesel fuel and motor oil sounds rough on a man's deck...
Latex seems to be a good course for protecting a feller's deck. Being selective about who you let sit on your deck is also helpful in preserving it.

i use thompsons. usually around 75 for 5 gallons

A deck that gets lots of use, well preservation isn't the goal. Keep that deck active entertaining and just deal with it, or close your deck and have it last but for what value. My deck isn't the largest, but it's big enough to require support and a roof and it's extremely sturdy. I accidentally caught it one fire recently, but beat down the flames before any real damage.
