It's growth rate far exceeds browse pressure. 3-6" growth per 5 days is typical.

Corn will work fine in that size field. I have planted several that size and had good luck.

I mowed some and did T&M and plowed some and planted to see how they did compared to each other. T&M was not as pretty as the plowed but it did very well and it will definitely become they way I do most of my fields from now on. Did you just spread through the tall stuff and then mow? The reason I ask is I'm going to be doing sunn hemp and peas on a new property and was looking at maybe doing throw and mow this fall.
