I’m still trying to comprehend how you can go to the beach on opening weekend.

Here’s the translation; Other states with declining numbers have pushed back their season dates. If a couple years from now, perceived populations increase on those select WMA’s, Alabama will have a reason to push the start of season back statewide, irregardless to other factors that might contribute to slight upticks in population trends.

They're fortunate that Jackson county has the best deer and turkey hunting in the state so they can live off of the land

Well I got a wife and kids who like the beach and my condo lady gives me a great deal on spring break week.
I got no private land to hunt so I can’t go til 24th.

Every spring I think about taking my stuff and driving over to Perdido one morning.

There’s a member on this forum who’s got him beat. I know one who will be on a Caribbean cruise opening day. I can’t fathom that.

The key is knowing where they are baiting and trapping at between now and then.

Not too difficult to find on some WMA's. Signs were posted on certain gates during deer season. Bait sites are being conducted on certain food plots. One of the grad students doing research told me they weren't just studying turkeys though. They were baiting for eagles as well with carcasses. I wouldn't think they would be working the two on the same plots though.
