I would like to run some feeders, but the hogs get to it first. Thinking of building a low fence like they do in Texas that allows the deer to jump in, but the hogs stay out. Any experience with these?
Yes sir. Get some 16'x50" cattle panels and cut them in half length ways. At that point, you're left with (2), 16'x25" panels. Some T-posts, heavy duty zip ties and a little time and you're in business. We ran our squares 16x16 and were using gravity feeders so we had no issue with the feed getting outside the enclosure. I didn't notice the deer reluctant to get in but several people mentioned going with a bigger enclosure so the deer wouldn't feel so "boxed in." If we were to do it again, I'd probably go 32'x32' just to see if it had any better effect. You might need to go that big if you're using a broadcast feeder. Cattle PanelsIt definitely kept the hogs away from the feeders. Of course the state coming in and aerial gunning them also did wonders.
Ya'll are just overthinking it now

Trapping dang sure works....if you use the right kind of traps. Box traps are worthless.

I have the redneck gate from Barry due to the expense and lack of cell coverage. I caught the whole sounder and haven't had any more issues.

I use the hog panels, they're just high enough to step over. 6 16' panels and 12 t-post make a 30' round pen. Mark center and pull 15' string and mark perimeter. Set up first post and center a panel. Work panels and post around perimeter marked earlier. Pull 15' to check alignment as needed. I've had one for 4 years with zero hog problems. Pays for itself in first year with savings on feed.

I have been trying to tell people that for a couple of years now. They just won't listen! I even posted pics and all I got was a smartazz comment or two about having a feeder in a food plot........ Little did they realize that none of the 3 mature bucks I killed were in food plots this year.....and NOBODY is allowed to hunt that plot!

The smaller spacing keeps the pigs out unlike cutting the larger panels in half. Works the same if you're trying to keep them in (i.e. a hog trap).
