Was looking for a faster bullet to shoot out of my 30-06 yestserday. Came across the remington accelerator 55gr. Travels over 4000 fps. Thats smokin fast. Any of yall ever shoot these bullets? Also i compared this bullet to a 150gr core lokt on a drop chart and there wasnt near the difference one would think. Why is that?

lighter bullets bleed their velocity and energy quicker. As for shooting the round I have not shot it. Shouldn't be no different than a 22-250.

Only accurate rifles are interesting.

they ain't worth a chit on deer, very fragile bullet, no penetration of a deer.

I shot some in my 30/06 30 years ago, shot pretty good group.

If you want more .30 caliber speed buy a .300 magnum. The Remington sabot(pronounced say bo) are a French invention from the 19th century.

Skinny is my EX.Alcohol was involved.

Used to have some 70gr for my .270. They were not made for deer but rather shooting gophers and such. My dad shot a crow with one a couple 100 yes away and it just obliterated it. It was just a puff of feathers. (Sitting on a limb, not flying around)

It may have a straight trajectory, but it's going to lose kinetic energy super fast. You will not have that energy when it hits a target, and it will probably not pass through.

Been around for a while. If you can find a gun that shoots them well, they would be fine for varmints, bout it. The 30-06 I tried them in wouldn't group them.

The 30-06 has stood the test of time with 150-180 grain bullets.
Stick with those and kill stuff.

I didn't know they still made them, I have most of a box of 308 accelerator rounds from back in the day.

Had some a$$hole shoot at one of our deputies with a 30-06 accelerator round, way back about a thousand years ago...shot through the car door. The bullet didn't make it through the door, but it did drive a small bolt from the door into the cabin, and caused a nasty bruise on Bill's leg. He was PISSED!

glad all he got was a bruise. That thing would leave a nasty wound.

A Homewood officer I knew got shot in the ribs with a 12 ga and buckshot from 10 feet. He was wearing a good vest, but he had a couple broken ribs and a bruise from neck to knee on that side.

My Lt. in narcotics was shot through a door on a mobile home with a .22. Hit his vest right over his heart, and knocked him unconscious for about 10 minutes. We thought he was dead...the Chief Deputy crawled up to "recover his body" and Mark woke up while he was being dragged.
